mostly all budgies are like this when you first bring them home.

he just needs a few days to get used to his new surroundings thats all. try covering half the cage with a towel so he feels more safe and maybye play a video of other budgies chirping.

he should come round in a few days and start eating and chirping.

some budgies take months before they fully come out of themselves.

i went through exactly the same with my first budgie. so i no its hard but try not to worry so much.

good luckHi please help me i have brought a budgie for the very first time.?
Well he may just be stressed out from the move home, but his age kind of worries me. If he's not eating, the breeder may not have completely weaned him! See if he'll take some warm oatmeal from a spoon or syringe. Then go to the pet store and get handfeeding mix. He should pick around at his food, but I bet he is still relying on his nighttime feeding that he got when he was at the breeder. At 6 weeks old is usually when weaning starts and is usually done by 7 but some babies are stubborn. If this is the case, call a vet and have them show you the correct way to feed him and when he needs to be fed. Good luck!Hi please help me i have brought a budgie for the very first time.?
A bird coming to a new home needs some time to adjust. It can take anywhere from several hours to several weeks.

Until it gets used to its new home it will appear listless , bored, unhappy, and sad.

Just give it some time. The birds often will only eat or drink when you are out of the room.

When he perks up, you should know it because he will begin to chirp and sing !!!

Good luck !
